Last year Disney launched its very own ‘toys-to-life’ game to compete with the enormous Skylanders franchise in the form of Disney Infinity. Considering the fact that Disney is the most recognizable form of family entertainment in the business it wouldn’t have been a stretch to see them unseat Activision’s baby but the task proved to be much more difficult than they thought.
It appears as if Disney has decided that they need to up their game so to speak and are taking full advantage of the appropriation of the Marvel Universe. First they give us The Avengers but who knows what else they have waiting in the wings. The Marvel Universe is nothing if not deep when it comes to characters and story lines. If Disney goes the obvious route and adds Star Wars or Indiana Jones as well they may actually stand a chance at the throne that Skylanders is holding so securely.
