Destiny: Nolan North Replaces Peter Dinklage as Voice of The Ghost

It seems a familiar voice will not be returning to Destiny when The Taken King arrives later this year: Peter Dinklage has apparently been ditched as the voice-actor for the very important character of The Ghost, in favor of familiar videogame actor Nolan North.

Speaking with Game Informer, North, who is well-known for work in the Uncharted and Assassin’s Creed series, said that he was looking forward to taking over the role. “I was really excited to do this role,” Nolan North said. “You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it.”

To make for a smooth sense of continuity, Bungie apparently had North re-record all of the original dialogue to create a consistent storytelling experience from beginning to end.  “We wanted Nolan North’s version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty,” said creative director Luke Smith. With this change, the Ghost’s script will remain the same, but Peter Dinklage’s voicing of those lines will not be present in the game.

Destiny: The Taken King is an expansion of the original Destiny game, and is due to release September 15th, 2105.
